AT4 wireless, Inc. in iIOT Testing Role with Sprint XOHM
Herndon, VA, 29th of September 2008 - AT4 wireless, Inc., the first North American WiMAX Forum® Designated Certification Laboratory, today announced that it was selected by Sprint's XOHMTM business unit as its testing partner for interim InterOperability Test (iIOT). The U.S. service provider is developing a nationwide Mobile WiMAXTM network, and iIOT is part of XOHM's deployment approval process.
The WiMAX Forum® defines and conducts interoperability tests, mIOT, to ensure that 802.16e systems from different vendors work seamlessly with one another. mIOT currently addresses the interface between the subscriber station and the base station. The XOHM device certification process includes extensive end-to-end testing within the complete WiMAXTM network, including the core network consisting of subscriber stations, base stations, ASN gateways, AAA servers and HAs.
"We are very excited about the opportunity to extend the scope of work with XOHM and proud that XOHM is trusting AT4 wireless, Inc. to provide iIOT testing," stated Fernando E. Hardasmal, CEO of AT4 wireless, Inc. "AT4 wireless has committed significant resources to develop this new service., and has received great support from XOHM in setting up our laboratory in Herndon, Va. AT4 wireless, Inc. has made a lot of progress in the US. In little over a year we have greatly expanded our customer base in North America and our US Lab has recently received its ISO/IEC 17025:2005 accreditation from A2LA, " Fernando E. Hardasmal continues.
"We are currently replicating the Sprint XOHM core network on a micro scale," said Jose Rodrigo, COO of AT4 wireless, Inc. "This includes the base stations, ASN gateways, network element managers, AAA server and HA that XOHM is currently deploying. This will allow us to perform testing on the subscriber devices within the same real network scenarios. With this equipment infrastructure we will meet all the iIOT test requirements specified by Sprint XOHM."
" XOHM is pleased to have AT4 wireless, Inc. as a testing partner in our efforts to expand the WiMAXTM network ecosystem," said Ali Tabassi, Vice President of Technology and Architecture for XOHM. "We see this as another step in the process of broadening the accessibility of our network technology to existing and emerging chipset and device manufacturers. AT4 wireless, Inc. brings its experience with the WiMAX Forum certification to enable device testing in support of our end-to-end vision for a high-speed broadband mobile network."
