Boston.com Launches iPad App for Popular Blog, “The Big Picture”
BOSTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Boston.com’s immensely popular and award-winning blog, “The Big Picture,” is now available as an iPad and iPhone app. “The Big Picture” is a photo blog that presents news stories solely through large-format, high-quality photographs gathered from news services around the world.
“The Big Picture” covers a wide range of current news topics such as the Icelandic volcano eruption, the war in Afghanistan, and the World Cup. It also presents compelling photography of more timeless subjects such as astronomy and the planet Earth. In 2009 it won two Webby Awards for Best Use of Photography, both juried and people’s voice. It has also been nominated for the South by Southwest (SXSW) Web Awards and Editor & Publisher’s Eppy Awards.
Robert Kempf, vice president of digital for Boston.com said, “Far and away, ‘The Big Picture’ is our most popular blog, with a worldwide following. It’s able to tell a story that is moving and meaningful, through a medium that needs no translation.”
