CEA Expresses Support for Bipartisan Letter from Supercommittee to Obama Administration Regarding Spectrum Resources
ARLINGTON, Va.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- The Consumer Electronics Association (CEA)® today expresses its support for the letter from Senators John Kerry (D-MA) and Pat Toomey (R-PA) and Representatives Fred Upton (R-MI) and Xavier Beccera (D-CA) to President Obama regarding the need for additional spectrum for wireless broadband. The following statement can be attributed to Michael Petricone, senior vice president, government and regulatory affairs, CEA:
“We welcome the letter from key members of the Joint Select Committee on Deficit Reduction urging the Obama Administration to examine its own spectrum resources and reallocate underutilized government spectrum for wireless broadband.
“CEA has consistently urged policymakers to evaluate all spectrum resources and work to ensure the most efficient uses. While we believe voluntary incentive auctions are a strong first step to addressing the looming spectrum crunch, we also strongly support review and reallocation of underutilized government spectrum.”
