LAS VEGAS--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- CENX, Inc., operator of the world’s first and most connected Carrier Ethernet exchange, with more than 15 million accessible ESLs (Ethernet Service Locations), today announced the launching of a new Carrier Ethernet exchange at CoreSite’s (NYSE: COR) Washington DC data center at 1275 K Street. The new Carrier Ethernet exchange is the result of accelerated customer demand and is projected to be operational in Q2 of 2011. With this new exchange, CENX will have 10 operational Carrier Ethernet exchanges in North America, Europe and Asia.

“Our expansion is driven by both customer demand for new locations and customers’ successful use of CENX’s exchanges, as demonstrated by Verizon’s (NYSE: VZ) announcement today of its expansion with CENX to Washington, DC and Los Angeles” said Nan Chen President of CENX. “We are also delighted to bring important Ethernet connections and services to a new set of CoreSite customers. We believe the combination of CENX’s industry-leading Carrier Ethernet exchanges with CoreSite’s Washington, DC interconnection hub creates an ideal environment for the successful development of a significant Carrier Ethernet exchange.

“CENX’s plans to launch its new Carrier Ethernet exchange at our Washington, DC data center is the first set of many new exchanges expected to be deployed as a result of the data center agreement announced at PTC in January of this year,” said Chuck Price, CoreSite’s Senior Vice President of Information Technology. “The new CENX Carrier Ethernet exchange further establishes CoreSite’s Washington, DC data center as the ideal collocation environment for businesses and carriers seeking to leverage broader regional, national and global connectivity to Ethernet service networks, with on-site access to more than 50 carriers and service providers.”

The announcement of CENX’s new Washington, DC Carrier Ethernet exchange is also tied to CENX’s two recent announcements regarding its exchanges serving as wireless backhaul aggregation points and its exchanges being connected by the first carrier-neutral, inter-Exchange connections--CENX MemberLink.
