Thousands of Customers Now Can Enjoy Unprecedented Choice and Control in Home Entertainment

VAIL/AVON, Colo.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Comcast, the country’s leading video and broadband communications provider, today announced the launch of its signature ON DEMAND service, bringing thousands of customers in Vail, Avon, Beaver Creek, Breckenridge, Dillon, Frisco, Keystone and Silverthorne the opportunity to select from more than 20,000 choices of programming options from leading networks anytime they want. The company is able to roll out the new services thanks to an agreement with the Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) to lease single-mode fiber optic strands along the I-70 Corridor.

ON DEMAND offers Comcast Digital Cable customers more control than ever before, with the ability to choose from movies, music, sports, news, instructional and entertainment programming and more. In addition, viewers can rewind, fast forward and pause programs, and can store most selections for up to 24-48 hours from the time of ordering, so they can watch shows whenever and however often they like. An interactive, on-screen programming guide makes selecting from the library of ON DEMAND content quick and easy. Additionally, for subscribers using a DVR set-top box, the new guide automatically consolidates and organizes recorded content into folders by program.

“Comcast is committed to bringing our customers more ways to enjoy TV on their terms—what they want to watch when they want to watch it,” said Mike Trueblood, Area Vice President for the mountain communities. “ON DEMAND gives viewers the freedom to enjoy more viewing options than ever before, from today’s hottest movies and music to informative and instructional programming, from the latest news and sports to classic entertainment for the whole family. It’s a whole new way to watch TV—now customers’ favorite shows will follow their schedules.”

The majority of ON DEMAND programming—including shows from popular networks like TNT, USA Network, ESPN, Comedy Central, The Ski Channel, CNN, Golf Channel, Cartoon Network, TV One and Discovery—is available at no additional charge over the cost of Comcast Digital Cable service. In addition, customers can order many hit films the same day they are released on DVD, and choose from a robust library of free movie library titles.

Comcast also offers Xfinity TV online, a destination that offers Comcast digital customers nearly 150,000 video choices along with new ways to watch, find, and manage their favorite TV shows and movies on TV, online, ON DEMAND and on mobile devices – for free.

In addition, Comcast will move its mountain subscribers to an all-digital simulcast lineup, which allows the company to transmit channels via a digital signal instead of a traditional analog signal. This move, which will give subscribers better picture and sound quality, began in March and will be completed in April.
