CAROL STREAM, Ill.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- 4G. You have heard the “buzzword” everywhere you turn. But, do you know exactly what it might mean for M2M (machine-to-machine) technology and connected devices?

Well, the 2011 Connected World Conference is giving you the opportunity to find out. Connected World magazine announced today the participation of 4G Americas as an endorsing association for the 2011 event. 4G Americas will host a track to give attendees an overview of 3GPP mobile broadband technology, its global deployments, and why it is the leading technology for a connected world.

With sessions delving into HSPA+ and LTE advanced-network deployments, the 4G Americas-sponsored track will give the audience a look at 3GPP mobile broadband technology, the role it plays in the M2M ecosystem, and the effect of its scope, scale, and technology attributes on connected devices. Sessions will even address 4G certification and standards as well as the benefit to consumers and the enterprise. Kicking off the track will be 4G Americas President, Chris Pearson.

“4G Americas represents the 3GPP wireless technology family used in nearly 5 billion connections worldwide today,” says Chris Pearson, president of 4G Americas. “With the growing number of M2M connections, and an increasing number and variety of connected consumer devices and enterprise applications, the number of wireless subscriptions is expected to expand exponentially in the next decade. As an association, our role is to help provide the essential information to maintain a solid footing to ensure a successful future mobile broadband experience. We welcome our role as a host for an educational track at the Connected World Conference with outstanding industry experts from the mobile community.”

The 2011 Connected World Conference is the premier event for M2M and connected devices and will be held June 14-16 at the Lincolnshire Marriott, just outside Chicago, Ill.

“Today, everyonefrom networks, applications, services, and connected devicesis talking about 4G,” says Peggy Smedley, president of Specialty Publishing Co., and editorial director of Connected World magazine. “But what are they really saying, and what effect will the transition to 4G have on the connected world? The 4G Americas track can give us those answers and show those in attendance what the future may have in store.”

The 4G Americas track will begin at 9:00 a.m. on June 16, 2011 as part of the second day of conference sessions.
