Qwarq Platform Enables Faster, Simpler Wi-Fi Direct™ Integration for OEMs, ISVs

LAS VEGAS--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- ConnectSoft, Inc., a leading provider of wireless software solutions for PCs, smartphones, and other consumer electronic devices, today announced Version 2.0 of its Qwarq wireless platform. Qwarq enables mobile applications to easily and securely connect with nearby devices using peer-to-peer wireless technology, including products which carry the Wi-Fi Alliance’s newly launched Wi-Fi Direct certification. With Qwarq, ISVs now can quickly and simply enable their applications to connect using the technology underlying Wi-Fi Direct, and OEMs can choose any wireless silicon vendor using this single software platform.

“We are pleased to see the enthusiasm and support for Wi-Fi CERTIFIED Wi-Fi Direct,” said Edgar Figueroa, CEO of the Wi-Fi Alliance. “ConnectSoft’s Qwarq platform can help facilitate rapid adoption of the peer-to-peer capabilities of Wi-Fi technology for both existing and new mobile applications. We are using Qwarq to demonstrate the capabilities of Wi-Fi Direct.”

Qwarq is ConnectSoft’s patented wireless software platform that uses Personal Area Networking (PAN) technologies, such as Wi-Fi Direct, to seamlessly connect notebooks, netbooks, tablet PC’s, smartphones, and other devices directly, without any type of network connection. For consumers, Qwarq offers a compelling user experience that finally makes PAN easy and convenient. Qwarq also offers a standard wireless platform for developers to create and port multi-user applications and games that can function across various operating systems, hardware and software platforms.

Richard Smith, President of ConnectSoft, said, “With Qwarq, users can easily connect, share, and play anytime, anywhere, even across different devices such as Windows and Android; now, with Wi-Fi Direct, no hot spot or access point is required. And with Qwarq’s unique support for different operating systems and multiple radio technologies, it makes it really simple for app developers to add cool new wireless features to their mobile software applications.”

Qwarq handles all of the complex wireless PAN connection issues including device and service discovery, security, identity, and transport independent of the underlying radio, vendor, driver stack or protocol. Developers can quickly add peer-to-peer capabilities to their existing or new applications without needing to deal with the complexities of wireless technology. The Qwarq platform provides a common set of APIs across multiple operating systems so programmers only need to learn a single PAN interface regardless of the operating system. Developers can use C/C++, Flash, Java or .NET to interface with the Qwarq platform.

ConnectSoft is exhibiting at the iHollywood Forum Demo Night @ CES (http://cesihf.eventbrite.com/) and is also hosting meetings and demonstrations of Qwarq to OEMs and ISVs at the Courtyard by Marriott Las Vegas Convention Center throughout the show.
