New Outdoor Distributed Network Will Expand Coverage and Capacity for Upcoming Sporting Events in Indianapolis

LISLE, Ill.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- ExteNet Systems, Inc. has completed the installation of a distributed telecommunications network in downtown Indianapolis. Verizon Wireless is currently operating on nine nodes in downtown Indianapolis and surrounding Lucas Oil Stadium.

The distributed antenna system (DAS) network is designed to provide residents and visitors with seamless cellular service throughout downtown Indianapolis. Wireless carriers are increasingly using outdoor distributed networks to provide first-class coverage and capacity for crowds gathered at major sporting events when demand on carrier networks jumps dramatically.

In addition to ExteNet’s 24x7x365 monitoring of all networks, ExteNet has implemented a Large Event Network Readiness Plan and has done extensive testing with Verizon on the plan.

“In preparation for upcoming sporting events, Verizon Wireless has employed ExteNet Systems’ distributed network to improve wireless coverage and capacity in downtown Indianapolis,” said Mark Emerick, Verizon Wireless Director, System Performance MI/IN/KY Region

“We are confident that our distributed network will provide excellent coverage and capacity for the carriers for the many events hosted in Indianapolis,” said Ross Manire, ExteNet Chief Executive Officer.
