First Such High-Performance MIMO Products Available for Federal Government, Military and Utility Markets

LOS GATOS, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Firetide Inc., the leading provider of wireless infrastructure mesh networks, today announced the general availability of its groundbreaking MIMO 802.11n HotPort® 7000 product line with Federal Information Processing Standard (FIPS) 140-2 certification – NIST certificate #1370.

Firetide’s MIMO infrastructure mesh is the first such product on the market, achieving wire-equivalent user throughput (300 Mbps outdoor/400 Mbps indoor), security and reliability. Based on distributed Ethernet switch-based architecture and patented flow-based routing protocol, Firetide technology has become the de facto standard for real-time public safety video, the most demanding and mission-critical application.

“Achieving this milestone is important to Firetide and our channel partners as we ramp up our efforts to address the growing needs from the federal government, military and utility markets in 2010,” said Bo Larsson, chief executive officer of Firetide. “FIPS 140-2 certification coupled with the unrivaled performance and capacity of our MIMO infrastructure mesh products will no doubt be an attractive solution.”

FIPS 140-2 has been adopted as the de facto cryptography standard by governments and industries worldwide, while in the United States, the federal government is required to purchase cryptographic products validated to the FIPS 140-2 standard. FIPS 140-2 certification on the HotPort 7000 wireless infrastructure mesh products ensures that cryptographic algorithm implementations comply with relevant government security standards, and that the HotPort 7000 mesh network is secure against electronic attacks or access to critical security parameters, in addition to the hardware being tamper-evident.
