Foster Grant Broadens Its Social Media Efforts with its first ever iPhone App

SMITHFIELD, R.I.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- FGX International, a leading eyewear designer and marketer of several well-known consumer brands of sunglasses and reading glasses, including Foster Grant, Magnivision and Gargoyles, announced today the release of the Foster Grant Pocket Mirror application available for iPhone.

Foster Grant goes mobile with its Pocket Mirror app, its first mobile application. The application allows users to check out how they look “behind those Foster Grants.” Visual effects like black and white, sepia, or framing can be applied to the pictures before they are stored, shared, or uploaded to the Foster Grant Facebook page.

“Entering the mobile platform will help extend our growing social media campaign, and reinforce the message of ‘Who’s behind those Foster Grants?’ We are very excited that our consumers can now experience the brand in different, interactive ways,” says Sal Siano, Foster Grant Marketing Director.

The Pocket Mirror app uses the front facing camera feature on the new iPhone4 from Apple. Other features include rotating the image, and linking to FosterGrant.com. This application will add another level of interactivity to Foster Grant’s Facebook page. The current Facebook page already features “Shades of You,” an interactive style guide that allows followers to experience the different looks by trying sunglasses on models.

Foster Grant sunglasses are available in a wide range of styles and colors and provide MaxBlock™ 100% UVA-UVB protection, all at affordable prices. Foster Grant sunglasses can be found at retailers throughout the United States and Canada, including mass merchandisers, drug store chains, airport gift shops and grocery stores.
