Foxwoods Resort Casino Announces Launch of First Resort Casino-Branded iPhone Application
Foxwoods Resort Casino today announced its foray into the consumer technology space with the launch of a Foxwoods-branded mobile application that will live on Apple’s iPhone platform.
The application was released by Apple just last week and is currently available to consumers, free of charge, at http://itunes.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewSoftware?id=333176719&mt=8&uo=6.
“We are very excited to launch a Foxwoods-branded iPhone application that brings us a new, cutting edge way to reach our loyal consumers,” said Michael Speller, President of Mashantucket Pequot Gaming Enterprises (MPGE). “This application is another great channel to help us spread the word about our award-winning property’s world-class offerings, from gaming to dining, nightlife to entertainment, and everything in between, while affording our customers the opportunity to interact with our brand in a new and exciting context.”
This first-ever resort casino branded application in the casino gaming category was developed in conjunction with marketing and development firms Mullen and Aurnhammer, boasts a ‘game play’ feature, allowing users to try their hand at Foxwoods-themed games using ‘play money.’ The game simulates all the sights and sounds of an actual casino, creating a virtual environment that will immerse consumers in the Foxwoods experience.
The Foxwoods-branded iPhone application also offers users access into a virtual “velvet rope club” in the form of a dedicated concierge service, marking the first time a service like this is available on the iPhone. The exclusive 24-hour concierge service is accessed when users dial the application’s dedicated phone line. Offered exclusively to users of the Foxwoods-branded iPhone application, this service provides direct and expedited access to Foxwoods representatives who can answer any questions application owners may have about the property or its services, as well as book rooms, appointments and an array of reservations throughout the property.
“The Foxwoods brand is constantly evolving in a way that speaks to today’s audience, and this exciting application is just the latest example of that,” said Robert Victoria, Senior Vice President of Consumer Marketing for Foxwoods Resort Casino. “Foxwoods has a strong commitment to staying current, while at the same time maintaining a focus on our loyal consumer base, and we’re proud to be on the forefront of consumer trends yet again with the launch of the world’s first-ever casino-branded iPhone application.”
Another element of the application is the “resort experience” feature, which gives users the opportunity to take in-depth property tours, complete with virtual visits to hotel rooms, restaurants, retail shops, spas and more. This element will also provide users the opportunity to book spa appointments and receive tutorials on how to play the various table games that are offered at the property.
And there’s plenty to see. About the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation
The Mashantucket Pequots are a native Algonquin people in southeastern Connecticut, having endured centuries of conflict, survival, and continuity on and around one of America’s oldest Indian reservations, established in 1666. As the first native people within the borders of the continental United States to suffer attempted genocidal massacre by Puritan Colonists in 1637, the Pequots and their repatriation is an unprecedented story of restoration exhibited in detail at the Tribe’s world-class Museum and Research Center (www.pequotmuseum.org). Today the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation owns the largest resort casino in the world, Foxwoods Resort Casino (www.foxwoods.com), along with several other economic ventures including the Lake of Isles Golf Course (www.lakeofisles.com), a joint-venture partnership establishing the MGM Grand at Foxwoods, and Foxwoods Development Company dedicated to world-class resort development throughout the United States and Caribbean. All together, the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation remains one of the State of Connecticut’s highest tax payers and largest employers. Likewise, the Tribe provides significant financial contributions to state and local nonprofit organizations that support neighboring communities.
