FUSIONONE LAUNCHES NETWORK ADDRESS BOOK API TO LEVERAGE MULTI-SERVICE MOBILE SYNC TECHNOLOGY
- FusionOne, the leading provider of mobile phone content portability services, today announced the availability of the Application Programming Interface (API) for its Network Address Book (NAB) solution. The NAB API provides a tool for developers to access centralized contact lists across a wide range of communications services and is a critical component to helping members of the FusionOne Developer Program expand their suite of services.
The NAB API specifically enables developers to have easy access to a subscriber's consolidated address book information from mobile, instant messenger, email and social networking sites. NAB utilizes both SyncML and standard Web Services API open standards so developers can integrate quickly and easily right out of the box. By enabling address book access through the FusionOne Developer Program, FusionOne is helping to increase usability, drive service adoption, and create new revenue opportunities for application developers.
"Consumers typically place their true friends in their mobile address book," said Mohan Sadashiva, senior vice president of marketing, FusionOne. "Our API embraces open standards that give mobile, device and Web developers easy access to the combined address book from NAB."
With the NAB API, members of the FusionOne Developer Program can utilize Network Address Book to enable a wide range of services, such as providing access to mobile contacts to send text messages from desktop computers, enabling LBS devices to map a street address from information entered in e-mail contact lists, and allowing social networking applications to access mobile numbers found only on a mobile device. The increased access makes it easy for consumers to use these services, increasing user adoption rates and thus lowering the barrier of entry for developers.
"We are working with FusionOne to provide our customers a way to easily access a network address book and look up their friend's mobile numbers anywhere," said Rich Eicher, President, Skycore LLC, the company behind ‘Mobile Organizer,' a mobile messaging and scheduling application built on the Facebook® platform, and the developers of the Cellyspace.com platform to enable multimedia messaging and content delivery by consumers, publishers and brands. "We believe that integrating this capability into our social network applications will enable our consumers to send premium digital gifts, mobile greeting cards and virtual goods to their friends' mobile phones with ease and dramatically increase the adoption of our services."
The FusionOne Developer Program, which currently has more than 50 active mobile developers, makes available APIs and a developer test environment for developers to create innovative applications and services. Prospective developers can now email devnet@fusionone.com to get more API and Developer Program information.
