FUSIONONE LEADS THE WAY TOWARDS MOBILE CONTENT PORTABLITY BY PARTNERING WITH FOUR MORE CONTENT PROVIDERS
FusionOne, the leading provider of mobile phone content portability services, today announced partnerships with four new mobile content providers:
GOSUB 60, Inc., a boutique wireless games publisher, delivering best-of-breed casual titles and industry-driving games to the mobile mass market
mSpot, operator of the largest mobile music and video on-demand network in North America, servicing more than four million customers across 10 wireless carriers
Digital Cyclone, a leader in providing personalized weather intelligence for wireless devices
UI Magic Inc., a leading developer of downloadable and upgradable user interface solutions and applications
These companies support FusionOne's mobile content portability efforts by joining its Content Developers Network, which certifies that licensed content from members is compatible with FusionOne's Handset Transfer Solution. Mobile phone subscribers now have the ability to seamlessly move licensed content from these companies from one mobile device to another.
As a result, content providers can preserve and extend existing relationships with their subscriber customers independent of a subscriber's mobile device, and subscribers will no longer be inconvenienced by having to remember, repurchase and re-download applications from their previous phone. Subscribers will also be able to access and share the transferred content with popular carrier and internet applications.
"mSpot is pleased to be partnering up with FusionOne, providing an enhanced user experience for our customers by making it simple to transfer their existing services onto new handsets," says Daren Tsui, CEO of mSpot. "This collaboration will help us continue to bring the best and largest selection of mobile music and entertainment to our customers across North America."
"We are very pleased to partner with FusionOne," said Sean M. Broderick, CTO and vice president of product development for UI Magic Inc. "The FusionOne Handset Transfer Solution gives our customers an easy way to quickly take their content with them when they upgrade phones. We see mobile content portability as an extremely valuable tool in customer retention."
The Handset Transfer Solution enables mobile carriers to preserve and grow revenue streams derived from sales of purchased and licensed content by ensuring that when a customer gets a new phone, their content is transferred to the new handset.
"With these partnerships, we move closer to our goal of supporting mobile data portability services for all mobile content," said Mohan Sadashiva, senior vice president of marketing for FusionOne. "We're continuing to engage in discussions with more content providers to give them a way to retain customers and revenues as well as providing mobile phone subscribers the ability to easily move their licensed content to new phones."
Last month, during the Game Developers Conference, FusionOne announced partnerships with Gameloft and Glu. To date, FusionOne has partnered with more than 50 content providers that offer mobile games and other mobile applications.
