New CEO brings extensive telecom, international business experience to Guam

TAMUNING, Guam--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- GTA TeleGuam announced today that its board of directors has appointed Robert W. Haulbrook, Jr. as the company’s president and chief executive officer. This appointment is effective immediately.

Haulbrook has nearly 30 years experience in all communications market segments including wireless, landline phone services, and long distance, as well as digital television services both nationally and internationally. He has worked in more than 10 international markets in Asia, Australia, South America, Central America, Caribbean, Europe, and Middle East.

“Robert Haulbrook is a proven telecom executive and has earned a reputation as a trusted and respected leader,” said Richard Folsom, representative partner and co-founder of Advantage Partners, which services global private equity funds that own GTA TeleGuam.

“We think Robert has the right mix of knowledge and experience to lead GTA TeleGuam through its next growth phase,” Folsom said. “He shares our passion for communications, outstanding service to customers, and continuing to build a great culture at GTA TeleGuam.”

Haulbrook was previously founder and CEO of Cellular Center LLC, a premier wireless phone retailer based in Atlanta. He also served as chairman and CEO of Meteor Mobile Communications in Dublin, Ireland, as well as general manager of Centennial Wireless in San Juan, Puerto Rico. Earlier in his career, Haulbrook held various executive level positions spanning 20 years at BellSouth in the areas of telecom marketing, sales, product development, yellow pages publishing, and strategic planning.

“I am impressed with GTA TeleGuam’s achievements since its privatization and its potential for growth in the region,” Haulbrook said. “I am excited to join an already strong management team that should stand proud of its accomplishments in a fiercely competitive environment.

“I look forward to meeting employees, customers, and fellow local business leaders,” Haulbrook said. “Together we can all find new ways to contribute to the economic growth and expansion of this island.”

Since privatization, GTA TeleGuam has been a key driver for innovation and competition on Guam, resulting in overall improved services and lower rates. GTA TeleGuam has introduced many new services and products to the island, including the launch of a wireless GSM network, BlackBerry and iPhone, and 100 percent digital television. More recently, GTA TeleGuam upgraded its wireless network with 4G technology.

Haulbrook, his wife, Delaine, and daughter, Ansley, will relocate to Guam from Saint Simons Island, Georgia.
