IDT Expands Family of High Definition Audio Codecs
SAN JOSE, Calif., June 9, 2008 – IDT® (Integrated
Device Technology, Inc.; NASDAQ: IDTI), a leading provider of essential
mixed signal semiconductor solutions that enrich the digital media
experience, today introduced a new member of its high definition PC
audio codec family. The new device is a low power, high fidelity audio
codec and is the first audio codec designed and developed by the IDT
Shanghai design center. In addition, the device is manufactured in the
IDT fabrication facility in Hillsboro, Oregon using 0.18 micron process
technology to further reduce power consumption. Moreover, the device
uniquely offers the industry increased design flexibility by achieving
Windows Logo Program (WLP) compatibility in the smallest form factor
currently available for a High Definition (HD) audio codec. Similar
to the existing members of the IDT PC audio codec family, the new IDT
device is optimized to help bring home-entertainment-level audio
fidelity to enterprise desktop and notebook systems, while supporting
mobile user capabilities such as advanced processing for voice over
Internet protocol (VoIP). IDT
PC audio solutions allow users to experience digital audio media
through the devices’ unique combination of high-fidelity hardware,
intuitive applications software, and worldwide OEM support. “We
are excited about our new audio codec solution. It’s nice to see the
significant investments we have made in our PC audio solutions have
resulted in product offerings that help establish IDT as a significant
contributor to this market,” said Mary Cunningham, director of
marketing for the IDT PC audio operation. “Like the other members of
the IDT PC audio codec family, the 92HD75B is a low-power device that
brings consumer electronics level-audio performance to both desktops
and notebooks. Our goal for all our audio codecs is to improve the
audio experience for the PC market while adding system value for our
customers.” As
with all members of the IDT PC audio codec family, the new device also
includes the proprietary IDT HD sound graphical user interface (GUI)
that enables customers to provide end-users with maximum, yet
easy-to-use, control of a PC audio system through complete audio
software customization. The HD sound GUI provides intuitive initial
individual set-up, input/output audio jack configurability, and allows
end-users to dynamically adjust their audio experience based on
application, environment, and content. As a result, IDT PC audio
solutions enable OEM customers to maximize battery life, offer advanced
usage models for PC audio, and provide their end-customers the ability
to personally manage the quality of their audio experience, and achieve
high-levels of overall audio fidelity, compatible with the most
stringent WLP fidelity requirements. The
IDT 92HD75B is available in a smaller 32-pin QFN package enabling IDT
customers a reduced footprint while maintaining high definition audio
quality. The device features 2 stereo input and 2 stereo output
channels and is compatible with the Intel high definition audio
interface. It also includes extensive optimizations to minimize unwanted audio artifacts, such as “pops”, during system power up. The
92HD75B, and related software, supports full-duplex stereo audio and
simultaneous VoIP telephony by supporting multiple, independent audio
streams. Additionally,
the optimized and flexible power management, including driver
optimizations and specialized audio circuitry mitigates pop/click sound
anomalies, offering a smoother audio experience. The audio solution provides a mono output
for laptop sub-woofer and support for 1.5V and 3.3V high definition
audio signaling with run time selection to enable the widest possible
range of system designs. Pricing and Availability The
IDT 92HD75B is currently sampling in the 32-pad QFN environmental
(RoHS) package. Prices are listed at $0.95 for 10,000 units. For
