Partnerpedia survey shows that Android leads as the most targeted mobile platform, followed by iOS and Windows, yet challenges remain

MORGAN HILL, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Partnerpedia, a provider of mobile app management and marketplace solutions, released survey findings that show great interest among developers and solution providers to offer mobile app solutions to businesses.

The survey, which targeted Partnerpedia Community members, showed an extremely high interest in providing mobile app solutions to businesses. Over 80% of the 200+ respondents indicated they already, or plan to, offer mobile app solutions to business customers.

Among the reasons for targeting mobile app solutions for business customers are an overcrowded consumer market and higher margins in business apps. Twenty-eight percent of respondents expect their mobile business to grow more than 50% in the next three years, with another one-third indicating a growth of between 25% and 50%.

Android led the way when it comes to targeted mobile platforms with 82.5% of the respondents selecting the operating system. Apple’s iOS was not far behind with nearly 78%. Windows also captured 51.5% of the interest and Blackberry at 39%.

The majority (73.3%) of respondents plans to sell apps via their corporate web site, but also noted selling through the Apple App Store and Android Marketplace.

While interest in providing mobile app solutions were high, challenges remain. Over 50% indicated a challenge in engineering resources for app development. As one respondent noted, “our biggest issue will be building apps that are compatible with so many different devices.” Marketing and sales was also an issue as developers and solution providers vie for the attention of business buyers.

“The survey results clearly show that there is great interest in the industry to offer mobile app services and solutions,” said Sam Liu, Vice President of Marketing at Partnerpedia. “This is in-line with the fact that many enterprise IT organizations we work with indicate the need for help with their enterprise mobile application efforts.”

The Partnerpedia Community allows mobile developers and solution providers to seek like-minded partners in order to collaborate on business projects. It’s also a great place to promote their mobile offerings to the broader community of customers and partners.
