Leap's Keith Buckley Named Co-Chair of CDMA Development Group Device Strategy Council
SAN DIEGO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jun. 10, 2009-- Leap Wireless International, Inc. (NASDAQ:LEAP), a leading provider of unlimited wireless services, today announced that Keith Buckley, senior vice president of supply chain management, was appointed co-chair of the CDMA Development Group Device Strategy Council (DSC).
The CDMA Development Group (CDG) is an international consortium of companies who have joined together to lead the adoption and evolution of code division multiple access (CDMA) wireless systems around the world. Comprised of CDMA service providers and manufacturers, application developers and content providers, CDG works to meet the needs of markets around the world by expediting the availability of advanced wireless technologies to consumers based on open standards.
CDG's Device Strategy Council is a senior decision-making body focusing on all aspects of wireless devices. This board-level council makes decisions regarding device availability and forward looking strategies. It also provides specific guidance to CDG's device requirements team regarding its work items and priorities. The DSC includes senior level participants from operators, handset, chipset, and application providers, as well as from infrastructure providers.

Since joining Leap Wireless as senior vice president of supply chain management in August 2008, Buckley has been responsible for the coordination and management of Leap's end-to-end supply chain operations, including network and mobile devices. In addition, he is responsible for developing a corporate approach to procurement management and vendor development programs. Buckley has extensive corporate and military experience, with a focus on achieving business objectives within rapid growth environments. Most recently he served as the general manager of consumer products for Telecom New Zealand Group, where he oversaw the lifecycle of all consumer products, procurement and supply chain management. Buckley began his carrier with the Royal New Zealand Air Force, serving as an operational helicopter pilot, military adviser to the Czech Republic Government and head of strike/joint operations planning. Buckley earned an M.B.A. from the University of Otago in Dunedin, New Zealand.
