Merkle Hires Chris Wayman as VP and General Manager, Mobile Practice
COLUMBIA, Md.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Merkle (www.merkleinc.com), the nation’s largest and fastest growing independent customer relationship marketing agency, today announced the hiring of Chris Wayman as vice president and general manager for the firm’s mobile marketing practice, which focuses on developing and executing best-of-breed mobile strategies for clients across a wide range of vertical markets. In this newly created position, Wayman will help oversee the group’s rapid expansion, as demand for mobile marketing services and solutions continues to increase across Merkle’s diverse and growing client base.
Prior to Merkle, Wayman was the vice president of global sales at San Jose-based iLoop Mobile, Inc, a provider of mobile marketing technology solutions and campaign services. While there, Wayman was responsible for increasing the adoption of the company’s solutions among top brands, which included Coca-Cola, Comcast Spotlight, HP, Google, Lexus, Money Mailer, Paramount, Sony, Starz, Warner Brothers, Western Union and many others.
Before iLoop, Wayman was the senior director of business development at Volantis Systems Ltd., a U.K.-based provider of multi-channel content delivery across PCs, wireless, TV and new IP-based devices. In this position, Wayman grew the firm’s content services business by helping companies adapt their online marketing model to the emerging mobile platform. Earlier, Wayman was the vice president of business development at Xpoint Technologies, a software provider to OEM computer manufacturers and Fortune 500 companies.
Wayman said, “Over the past 10 years, I have had the opportunity to work with some very forward-thinking organizations, and saw the huge emerging potential for brands to develop meaningful engagement with the consumer through the mobile channel. I joined Merkle because it is a company that understands the convergence of multiple channels into the mobile space and the need to help clients take an integrated approach to their marketing, while actually listening to and interpreting the data. Most companies are just beginning to get started on their mobile strategy, and Merkle is in a great position to take its marketing programs to the next level.”
Craig Dempster, Executive Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer, Merkle, said, “Chris Wayman is joining Merkle with an ideal blend of mobile experience with top-name brands. Given the emerging nature of mobile, it is extremely rare to find professionals with deep experience in the mobile channel. We are very excited that Chris is part of our team.”
