Company supports video streaming to iPhone, Droid, Blackberry, Wii, PS3, IPTV and HTML5 Streaming for iPad

TEWKSBURY, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Mirror Image® Internet, a leading provider of content delivery solutions today announced it has increased mobile streaming traffic over its network by 100 percent since the beginning of 2010. With this increase in mobile streaming, Mirror Image now supports a total of 70 percent streaming traffic (both fixed and mobile) overall on its global network.

As content producers increasingly rely heavily on streaming video to reach customers and audiences, Mirror Image has seen significant growth opportunities to expand the capabilities of its network to meet this growing demand. Over the last six months, the company has invested an additional $3 million into its streaming network for new streaming servers, storage capacity for large objects as well as increasing bandwidth capacity for high definition video.

Mirror Image has also focused on expanding its network to support video delivery to many popular video-enabled smartphone devices, including the iPhone and most recently the iPad. The company’s Multi-Protocol Streaming Service now supports HTML5 streaming that plays directly in the Safari browser on iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad devices as well as on Snow Leopard using the HTML5 video tag for both video-on-demand and live streaming services. The customers Mirror Image has signed for mobile streaming over the last six months include Streamquik, WBRC-TV and Internet Video Archive.

“The fact that our network is now delivering over 70 percent streaming video is evidence of a dramatic shift in content strategy over the last several years,” said James G. Hart, Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Mirror Image Internet. “Our customers are running complex and multifaceted campaigns, of which streaming plays an integral role. Our ability to offer a network with the capacity and diversity to meet any video need- internet or mobile- while maintaining our commitment to customer service has fueled our growth and ongoing investments in our network.”

As the industry leader in providing streaming services that support Microsoft Silverlight, Adobe Flash, H.264 and MPEG-TS, and early adopters using HTML5 compatible browsers, Mirror Image continues to follow the introduction of HTML5 very closely with plans to introduce broad support as the adoption and definition of this standard matures.
