Mobile industry meets in San Francisco to discuss open vs Apple at The Open Mobile Summit
SAN FRANCISCO--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- The most influential people in mobile, media and apps will be in San Francisco next week for the 4th annual Open Mobile Summit conference.
They’re meeting to discuss the best way to build – and monetize – the open mobile Internet.
This is critical as everyone in the industry looks to provide a viable alternative to Apple’s closed application ecosystem – as Google’s Android gains market share - and as smartphones, tablets and connected TVs drive apps to the cloud.
“The mobile internet revolution has only just begun” said Open Mobile Summit exec producer Robin Batt “Apple took the mobile industry by storm in 2008, but now other major players are getting wise to the opportunity. I expect the market to shift dramatically again in 2012.”
“Significantly, a number of major publishers have made the move to html5 as a publishing platform this year. We’ve invited Rob Grimshaw MD of FT.com, Kinsey Wilson SVP NPR and Mark Frons CTO New York Times to share their experiences building, marketing and monetizing on the open mobile web.”
The speaker line-up features some of the biggest names in mobile, Internet and media including:
- John Donahoe, CEO, eBay
- Kevin Rose, CEO, Milk (and Digg.com)
- David Small, CTO, Verizon Wireless
- Kevin Packingham, SVP, Samsung
- Albert Cheng, EVP Digital Media, ABC / Disney
- Jason Spero, Head of Mobile Americas, Google
- Tom Conrad, CTO, Pandora
- Jim Lanzone, President, CBS Interactive
- John Loughlin, EVP and GM, Hearst Magazines
