Companies Complete Successful Interoperability Tests Between the Movenda Mecum Server Platform and Red Bend’s MSM solutions

WALTHAM, Mass. & ROME--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Movenda, a company that specializes in the development of software solutions for remote management over-the-air (OTA) of SIM cards and devices, and Red Bend Software, the market leader in Mobile Software Management (MSM) with more than 1 billion Red Bend-Enabled™ devices, today announced the successful completion of interoperability tests between the Movenda Mecum server platform and Red Bend’s firmware over-the-air (FOTA) updating and mobile device management (DM) client software. The Mecum server platform is now Red Bend Certified™.

By ensuring end-to-end product interoperability and compliance with the Open Mobile Alliance Device Management (OMA DM) standards, mobile network operators that use the Mecum server platform can now take advantage of Red Bend’s MSM solution to manage devices remotely and deliver firmware and software updates over the air to handsets and other connected mobile devices.

Red Bend’s MSM solutions — vRapid Mobile® FOTA software and vDirect Mobile® device management client — improve the mobile user experience and reduce support costs by remotely updating device firmware with new functionality and software improvements. As phones get smarter and more complex, and as consumers become more accustomed to getting services on-demand, operators around the world are increasingly recognizing the importance of updating devices to enhance consumer satisfaction and build brand loyalty. Red Bend’s software has been adopted by 10 of the top mobile phone manufacturers worldwide, and has been deployed in more than 1 billion mobile devices.

Mecum is a remote device management system that provides FOTA functionality according to the Open Mobile Alliance FUMO 1.0 standard, and supports the latest standard for the lifecycle management of remote software components, according to the OMA DM Software Components Management Object (SCOMO).

“We are proud to be certified by Red Bend, a world leader in OMA DM-based client software products and solutions,” said Marco Rossi, Movenda president and CEO. “Movenda once again proves to be among the global players in Mobile Remote Management technology, which will play an important role on the future development of mobile markets such as M2M and mobile payment systems.”

Lori Sylvia, executive vice president of marketing for Red Bend Software, who leads the company’s interoperability program, said: “We are delighted to add Movenda to our growing list of certified device management server partners. The combination of our standards-based offerings will benefit mobile operators by enabling lower customer care costs and simplified remote management of the growing number and type of mobile phones and connected wireless devices.”
