MSF Welcomes Cisco, JDSU to Leadership Team; Announces VoLTE Interoperability Details

FREMONT, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- The MSF (MultiService Forum) today announced that Kyu-Ouk Lee, Principal Member / Project Manager, Engineering at Korea’s Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute (ETRI) and David Francisco, Standards Manager at Nokia Siemens Networks have been re-elected to the Board of Directors. In addition, Sai Mahalingam, Technical Marketing Engineer at Cisco Systems, Inc. and William Vink, Solution Engineer at JDSU joined the MSF’s Technical Committee Leadership Team.

The MSF has seen significant growth this year, welcoming five new member companies to the forum: Alepo, Bridgewater Systems, JDSU, National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) and WiChorus, a Tellabs Company. At the MSF’s Q2 meeting in Lisbon it was also announced that the September 2011 VoLTE IOT event, in partnership with GSMA and hosted by Vodafone and China Mobile, is receiving overwhelming industry support, with seven official sponsoring companies, including GENBAND, Huawei, ZTE, Alepo, Bridgewater Systems, Cisco and WiChorus. A key objective of the testing is to validate the GSMA’s technical recommendations for IMS-based VoLTE. Test scenarios include VoLTE basic interoperability, roaming and interconnection, non-LTE Access to EPC (e.g. GERAN/UTRAN), handover/relocation and Self Organizing Networks (SON). Since announcing the event 6 weeks ago, the majority of the available testing slots have already been filled. Due to the level of interest, the MSF is offering an additional sign-up period until April 30, 2011.
