Muze Launches New Music Samples Service
NEW YORK, NY--(Marketwire - April 10, 2008) - Muze Inc., a leading provider of solutions that enable search, discovery, and purchase of entertainment products and services, today announced the launch of MuzeTunes® 2.0 -- the company's newest version of its streaming music service. MuzeTunes 2.0 provides over 5 million fully-licensed streaming music samples that enable consumers to discover new music, to find related songs and artists, and to purchase music and related merchandise. MuzeTunes® 2.0 offers the most codices and bitrates available in the market, and includes MP3, SWF (Shockwave Flash) and support for mobile 3GP formats.
"Muze is dedicated to delivering innovative products and services to help our clients effectively engage consumers both online and over the air," says Janice P. Anderson, chairman and chief executive officer of Muze. "Our new, rapidly-deployable MuzeTunes® 2.0 streaming music samples service provides rich discovery tools that help to drive site visits, increase length of stay, and increase revenue. From traditional retailers to social networks and mobile applications, MuzeTunes® 2.0 bridges the gap between browsers and buyers."
"We've been using MuzeTunes for some time now, and have been very pleased with both the breadth and depth of Muze's catalog, as well as the responsiveness of Muze's Client Services Team," said Joe Buesgen, vice president of consumer-direct marketing for Oldies.com, the premiere online destination for lovers of "oldies" music and classic movies. "Now, with MuzeTunes 2.0, Muze is expanding their already comprehensive samples database, and adding a variety of formats and codices, which helps us in connecting our consumers with music the way they want it."
MuzeTunes® 2.0 is the broadest and most comprehensive catalog of high quality streaming music samples available today. It provides consumers with access to the widest selection of music, from current hits, deep back catalog selections, top artists and labels to major imports and even out-of-print titles. To date, Muze has streamed over 7.5 billion music samples. These streaming samples are utilized by market leaders worldwide, including Amazon, AOL, Buy.com, CD Universe, House of Blues, iLike, Nellymoser, Shop.com and Yahoo!.
Some key new features of MuzeTunes® 2.0 include:
-- More Codices and Bitrates - Offering six codec options (SWF, AAC+, AMR- NB, MP3, Real Audio and Windows Media) and 5 bitrates (12.2, 16, 20, 32 and 64 kbps,) Muze provides unmatched flexibility and variety allowing companies to use the format that best meets the needs of their consumers and easily integrates into existing technical infrastructure. -- Streaming Samples for Mobile Phones - Formats designed for optimal delivery to, and use on, music-enabled mobile devices. Muze mobile-enabled codices in low bitrates reduce the load on system resources and efficiently serve mobile delivery. -- Enhanced Security - Encrypted URLs that ensure only authorized use of song samples. This is a turn-key solution for clients that can, on request, be augmented with proactive referrer access controls. -- Unique Persistent IDs - Unique and persistent IDs, assigned for every song sample, support easier relational linking and better search-and- discovery results, helping to increase consumer engagement.
Additional features include hosted delivery of cover art, improved search-and-discovery tools, and enhanced clip-level reporting functionality for sales and marketing analysis. The new MuzeTunes® 2.0 service integrates easily with Muze's Media Information 2.0 products, the company's next generation media information databases for music, film, books, and video games. This interoperability provides unprecedented search-and-discovery capabilities across product categories, linking music and artists to related works in film, books, and even video games, for extraordinary cross-promotion opportunities.
