New Speakers Confirmed for the Connected Home World Summit
Informa Telecoms & Media announced today new speakers who have joined the Connected Home World Summit line-up.
LONDON--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Paul Berriman, Chief Technology Officer from PCCW will be giving a presentation on Meeting the Multiplatform Challenge. He will talk about PCCW’s commitment to its multimedia services, the rationale for making content available on the Sony PlayStation 3 and other devices, why multiscreen is a major driver of the Connected Home evolution and the need for dynamic customer profiling to enable access to any device on the move.
Speaking two weeks before the event, Paul touched on the progression of the Connected Home industry. He believes that current home networking technologies are capable of supporting the next wave of Connected Home services as “many new Connected Home services (such as e-health, security, monitoring and smart grids) require much less bandwidth.” He also said telcos will need to offer “installation, maintenance and home network management services of their public network management” so interconnected devices will be easily navigable by the average user.
Ann Shaub, Director, Connected Home and CPE of Verizon will be providing an Operator’s case study on making the Connected Home a Reality. She will start by stating the case for the Connected World as a natural evolution of IP based TV then she will speak about managing the home from multiple screens in real time and how putting consumers in control will benefit take-up in the long-term. She will also detail Verizon’s pioneering ‘Home Monitoring and Control’ initiative.
