NTELOS Selects ADTRAN Total Access 5000 for Broadband Stimulus Fiber-to-the-Home Deployment
ADTRAN Named Preferred Provider for Broadband DLC and GPON
HUNTSVILLE, Ala.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- ADTRAN®, Inc., (NASDAQ:ADTN), a leading provider of next-generation networking solutions, today announced that NTELOS, a leading provider of wireless and wireline communications to consumers and businesses in Virginia, West Virginia, and Pennsylvania has selected ADTRAN’s flagship product, the Total Access® 5000 Multi-Service Access and Aggregation Platform (MSAP) and Total Access 300 Series ONTs for its 9,000 home GPON deployment funded by the Broadband Stimulus program. The Total Access 5000, with its all-Ethernet core, will enable NTELOS to cost-effectively provide Fiber-to-the-Home (FTTH) and Broadband DLC services, and significantly improve broadband penetration in this region. In addition to this award, NTELOS will also deploy the platform for GPON and Broadband DLC applications throughout its serving areas.
The ADTRAN Total Access 5000 was selected for deployment in the NTELOS network based on its depth and breadth of services that can be supported by a single platform as well as an industry-leading warranty and best-in-class technical support. These benefits when combined with a low capital investment result in a lower total cost of ownership and accelerated return on investment.
“We are pleased to expand our strategic relationship with ADTRAN. A trusted partner for many years, ADTRAN will now be a key vendor for GPON and Broadband DLC deployments throughout our network,” said Glenn Butler, NTELOS vice president of wireline engineering and planning. “We have deployed the Total Access 5000 in other parts of our network and know its benefits first hand. This product will allow us to quickly and efficiently expand our fiber network to the customer, providing higher broadband speeds and IPTV service.”
“We are pleased to partner with NTELOS for both the Broadband Stimulus deployments as well as NTELOS’ network-wide BBDLC and GPON build-out,” said P. Steven Locke, vice president of sales, service providers, ADTRAN. “The Total Access 5000 is an ideal solution for carriers, like NTELOS, who are transitioning their networks to next-generation services. As a multi-service solution, service providers can deploy a variety of different services, all from the same platform and without a forklift upgrade. The ability to add services also positions them for additional deployments, protecting their investment for years to come.”
The ADTRAN Total Access 5000 is a Multi-Service Access and Aggregation Platform that efficiently enables service providers to deploy all kinds of carrier-class services from a common product. An all-Ethernet core provides scalability to meet any access service demand. The Total Access 5000 is the ideal solution for both fiber and copper access technologies gracefully handling the transition from legacy to next-generation services and providing a path toward a converged network. The multi-service capabilities of the Total Access 5000 coupled with the Total Access 300 Series ONT products, allow the deployment of an advanced FTTH packet network infrastructure that is capable of delivering a host of services including voice, data, and video across a pure Ethernet core.
