OMVS Begins Development of New Mobile Coupon App

TAMPA, Fla.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- On the Move Systems Corp. (OTCQB: OMVS) announced today that it will begin the development of a new social couponing mobile application for use with smartphones and tablet computers.

Both mobile apps and social coupon platforms have experienced unprecedented growth in recent years. Driven by mass adoption of new wireless technologies, mobile application revenues have already increased by 77.7 percent in 2011, topping out at nearly $4 billion. Groupon, the industry leader in social couponing, became the fastest company to reach sales of $1 billion in history. OMVS will seek to combine the two business models to capitalize on strong demand for innovative new mobile apps and couponing solutions arising from emerging markets around the world, said CEO Patrick Brown.

“Social coupons have entirely changed the way we shop,” Brown said. “The savings that these electronic vouchers deliver has been enthusiastically received by consumers, but no one has been able to fully integrate the concept with mobile technology. That represents a tremendous opportunity.

“OMVS is working to develop an innovative new mobile app solution to take group couponing off of your desktop and on to your Droid phone or iPad,” he added.

Falling mobile data usage costs, the adoption of new platforms such as tablets and continuous improvements in application usability have made tablets and smartphones the new frontier of e-commerce. In the U.S., mobile users now spend more time per day using mobile applications than surfing the Web. By recreating the social coupon experience for mobile devices, OMVS plans to capitalize on the convergence of two powerful trends.

“This space is still wide open,” Brown said. “We’re working to get in and capture early market share as the mobile app couponing sector takes off and surpasses its online counterpart.”

OMVS created a new division to develop cutting-edge technology innovations in wireless tablets, smartphones and mobile applications earlier this month.
