OMVS to Develop New Mobile Content Optimized for Web 3.0
TAMPA, Fla.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- As the convergence of mobile technology, downloadable apps and social media create a new kind of computing, On the Move Systems Corp. announced today that its new wireless mobile video content will be optimized for a new kind of network—the Hypernet.
“More and more, people are interacting online using apps on mobile devices, not browsers on PCs,” said OMVS CEO Patrick Brown. “The Internet is changing to something far wider-reaching than the traditional Web. What matters now is Web 3.0, or the Hypernet: the Internet plus mobile apps and whatever replaces them. The Hypernet will be the marketplace in which OMVS reaches its clients.”
Mobile devices such as smartphones and tablets are already threatening to outnumber PCs and even television sets, Brown said. New disruptive technologies such as the cloud are poised to radically alter the way people use these devices and the Internet. Technology companies such as OMVS must be forward-thinking simply to keep up with the changes on the horizon.
“Soon, we’ll be wondering, ‘Whatever happened to the laptop computer?’” Brown said. “We’ll store our data and access our programs from cloud-enabled servers on our mobile devices and wonder how we ever survived in the hard-disk era. This is the future that OMVS’ new mobile video content is being designed for.”
Last week, OMVS announced it had initiated talks with mobile content developers to create original-series “appisodes” for in-app delivery to smartphones and tablets. The potential market for the new programming stands at 200 million and growing.
“The companies of tomorrow, including OMVS, are figuring out the seamless integration of the Web with the cloud, and we’re making it mobile,” Brown said. “It’s a fundamental shift in technology that could transform society and business, and we plan to leverage the Hypernet to achieve tremendous growth.”
OMVS is dedicated to producing next-generation mobile technology and content to compete in an industry that includes Trans World Entertainment Corp. (NASDAQ: TWMC), Glu Mobile Inc. (NASDAQ: GLUU), Netflix (NASDAQ: NFLX) and Majesco Entertainment (NASDAQ: COOL).
