SAN FRANCISCO--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Open Mobile Media Ltd. today announced that its third annual Open Mobile Summit, and launch event Appcelerate, which took place in San Francisco on Nov. 8-10, sold out with over 650 attendees.

“We were overwhelmed by the response to the Summit this year” said Founder Robin Batt. “In the three years since launch, The Open Mobile Summit is now one of the most important events the industry and doubles in size year on year.”

The Open Mobile Summit brings global business leaders together to explore how to build and monetize the open mobile Internet.

Keynote speakers included Dan Hesse CEO Sprint; Dennis Crowley CEO Foursquare; Anthony Melone CTO Verizon Wireless, Hossein Moiin CTO NSN, Sanjiv Ahuja CEO LightSquared, Raymie Stata CTO Yahoo! and the conference was chaired by Ann Winblad and Kara Swisher.

The conference was covered by over 100 news outlets. C-level attendees filled the conference to capacity and many congratulated the organizers on the high quality of the discussions.

“I was really quite shocked by the size of the event this year, and yet the level of influence and diversity of the speakers and attendees remained really high” Mark Curtis, CEO, Flirtomatic

Day 3’s Appcelerate event was also the stage for the launch of Smule’s Magic Fiddle for iPad, with a live performance by the Smule string quartet lead by Chief Creative Officer Ge Wang.

The event was supported by over 20 sponsors and exhibitors including Intel and Cisco (Gold), Aepona, Alcatel Lucent, appmobi, Boku, Flurry, GetJar, Google, Mozilla, Newbay, Nokia Siemens Networks, ON, Openwave, Opera, Qualcomm, Single Click Checkout, TAT, Texas Instruments, Umber, WindRiver and Zong.

The next Open Mobile Summit will be held in London on June 7-9, 2011 and the conference will return to San Francisco Nov. 8-10, 2011.

Open Mobile Media said they expect the conference to grow in 2011, but their objective will remain: to provide an alternative to the major mobile trade shows, a place for intimate discussion among the most senior executives in converging wireless, Internet and media to explore the future of mobile.
