Player X fires it up with Hellboy

Award-winning mobile media company Player X has been licensed by Starz Media to further expand the Hellboy franchise on the mobile video platform.

Under the terms of the deal, Player X will create and publish an extensive range of exclusive new mobile clips from the Hellboy Animated movies "Sword of Storms" and "Blood & Iron."

Based on the Hellboy comic book character and including the voice of actor Ron Pearlman, who played the title character in the original live action movie and its upcoming sequel, as well as the two Hellboy Animated movies, the Hellboy mobile video clips will premiere on Verizon Wireless across the U.S. on June 27th. The live action movie, Hellboy II: The Golden Army, will be released theatrically on July 11.

"The success we have had with our two Hellboy Animated movies proves that this is a franchise with multi-platform appeal, so we have high hopes for these new additions to the mobile offerings from a top company such as Player X," said Mara Winokur, Starz Media VP, digital media and business development.

Player X will publish and distribute in all global territories except Asia through its distribution network of on-deck and off-deck channels that give it a potential audience of more than 1 billion people.

The news follows Player X's recent innovations in the mobile video space and follows on from the successful Transformers deal last year when the company released the digitised Transformers: The Movie together with the original animated series and the Japanese Transformers Takara series.
