Network installs mobile Caller ID features on all Android-powered devices

ALLEN, Texas--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- The mobile world has been atwitter in recent months with talk of Verizon and AT&T, but apart from the iPhone’s expansion and the 4G battles, Sprint has been making exclusive upgrades to the fastest-growing operating system in the nation. The popular wireless carrier has added value to its line of Android-supported smartphones by installing Caller ID features supported by Privus Mobile. While Privus Mobile’s line of smartphone applications and packages have been available through a variety of application storefronts since 2008, the functions found on Sprint smartphones will now come pre-downloaded and ready-to-go.

“Caller ID is a service that many smartphone users have been missing as more and more people discontinue their landline services,” said Greg Smith, president and CEO of Accudata Technologies, developer of Privus Mobile. “That’s why we’re very excited to partner with Sprint and help them offer this service to their customers.”

Sprint’s Android handsets offer the full set of Privus Mobile features including Caller ID, Voice Announce, Text ID and Reverse Caller Lookup. This allows users to see and hear the names associated with incoming calls and text messages regardless of whether or not the sender is saved in a phone’s contact list.* In addition to Reverse Caller Lookup, which allows users to see a phone number’s owner any time, audible announcement of the caller’s name from Voice Cue allows for hands-free use while driving or when the phone is not accessible.

Privus Mobile applications are available for smartphones supported by Android, BlackBerry, iOS and Symbian operating systems. Individual apps as well as packages can be downloaded from popular storefronts including Android Market, BlackBerry AppWorld, Apple’s App Store, Handmark and Handango.

For more information about Privus Mobile’s compatibility with specific handsets or how the app works, visit www.privusmobile.com. Fans can also connect with Privus Mobile on Facebook and Twitter.

*Due to simultaneous data and voice constraints on CDMA networks, Privus Mobile can only deliver caller information while ringing on Android devices compatible with 3G GSM networks such as AT&T and T-Mobile. Users on other carriers will receive the notification after the call or text message is received unless the carrier has pre-installed the application on the device.
