SAN DIEGO, Dec. 17 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Qualcomm Incorporated
(Nasdaq: QCOM), a leading developer and innovator of advanced wireless technologies and data solutions, today announced that it has acquired San Diego-based SoftMax Inc., a market leader in noise reduction for mobiledevices. SoftMax brings leading-edge, multi-microphone noise suppressionand echo cancellation expertise to Qualcomm, broadening the audio and voice capabilities of the Company's product portfolio for integration into devices such as mobile handsets, Bluetooth(R) headsets, VoIP phones and notebook PCs.

"The acquisition of SoftMax will allow new opportunities for our
