ARLINGTON, Va.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- The Consumer Electronics Association (CEA)® today announced that Dr. Paul E. Jacobs, chairman and CEO of Qualcomm Incorporated, will deliver the opening keynote address at the 2012 International CES®. Jacobs’ keynote will be part of the Technology and Evolving Countries (TEC) Program at the 2012 CES, focused on the role mobile technology plays in global innovation and economic growth in consumer electronics. Owned and produced by CEA, the 2012 International CES, the world’s largest consumer technology tradeshow, is scheduled January 10-13, 2012 in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Dr. Jacobs’ keynote is slated for 8:30 a.m. Tuesday, January 10, in the Venetian, following a State of the CE Industry keynote address delivered by Gary Shapiro, president and CEO, CEA. “The dramatic growth of smartphones and tablets, and Microsoft’s support of Windows on ARM-based processors, firmly establishes mobile as the computing platform of today,” said Jacobs. “Emerging countries are now adopting mobile technologies on a huge scale. This creates tremendous growth opportunities in the consumer electronics and computing industries around the world. Qualcomm is helping drive these opportunities through our Snapdragon processors and other mobile innovations.”
