CBS Interactive today announced that Rob Gelick has been promoted to Senior Vice President and General Manager of CBS Mobile. In this role, Gelick will oversee the development, production and distribution of all mobile products across CBS Interactive properties including CBS.com, CBSSports.com, GameSpot, and TV.com. Gelick will also lead mobile efforts for CBS Television Network's core brands including entertainment, sports and news, as well as mobile development for The CW and CBS Paramount Television. Gelick will report to Sam Parker, Senior Vice President of Operations, CBS Interactive.

Gelick will be responsible for guiding the evolution of CBS brands in the rapidly growing mobile arena, extending these brands onto the mobile Web, and creating applications for multiple platforms including iPhone and Android. He will also oversee all of the licensing of CBS brands on the mobile platform, manage the 24-hour CBS Mobile television network, and oversee all mobile-related video, advertising, games, alerts and interactive TV initiatives.

"CBS has built a strong reputation for its innovative mobile offerings, and we continue to be bullish about the opportunities in the mobile arena," said Parker. "Rob has over a decade of experience in the mobile industry, and I am confident that his experience with CBS' mobile operations makes him uniquely qualified to step up as the General Manager for the Mobile group and continue to grow the division."

Gelick joined CBS Interactive in 2008 and most recently served as Vice President, CBS Mobile. Prior to CBS, Gelick was one of ten founding executives at Helio, where he served as the Vice President of Data Services.  In that role, Gelick envisioned, developed and managed an award-winning portfolio of mobile social networking and media services including the industry's first MySpace mobile service, the first complete YouTube Mobile offering, custom mobile Video and Music-on-Demand services, and a location-aware user-generated content publishing platform.

Before Helio, Gelick served as the Director of Music for Motorola's Global Entertainment Solutions Group, where he was instrumental in the company's strategic alliance with Apple to bring iTunes to Motorola's next generation mobile devices. While at Motorola he also helped pioneer the world's first mobile commerce and downloadable media solutions.
