One of the first banks in region to offer feature allowing consumers and businesses to deposit checks from mobile phone

ROCKLAND, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- As part of its efforts to continue providing customers the latest in banking technology and convenience, Rockland Trust today announced the introduction of a full range of mobile banking services.

One of the most exciting features of the mobile banking suite is a ground-breaking new capability called “mDeposit.” With the free mDeposit app, Rockland Trust customers can deposit a check into their account directly from their mobile device. The app uses the device’s camera to scan and deposit the check. mDeposit is available on the iPhone® and iPod® Touch, with Blackberry® and Android™ devices expected to be added later this year.

“Rockland Trust is proud to be one of the first banks in New England to offer a mobile check deposit service,” stated Christopher Oddleifson, president and CEO, Rockland Trust. “It speaks to our commitment to bringing leading-edge banking technology to our customers. The mDeposit app enables customers to make deposits quickly and securely right from their mobile phone. It’s now easier and more convenient than ever to bank with Rockland Trust, anytime, anywhere.” With its mDeposit Service, Rockland Trust is one of the first banks in the country to offer mobile check deposit services to business customers.

Additional mobile banking services from Rockland Trust include the ability for customers to use a variety of mobile devices to check balances, track account activity, search transactions, and set up alerts for text or e-mail messages for changes in their account. They can also transfer funds between Rockland Trust accounts and identify the nearest branch or ATM directly from their phone. Mobile banking services are free to Rockland Trust customers, and are safe and secure. Account information is always protected.

Customers can enroll easily from the bank’s mobile web site page, or if they use online banking, from the home page of their online account. A Rockland Trust mobile banking app is also available from the Apple, Blackberry, and Android app stores and can be downloaded for free.

Note: Rockland Trust mobile banking services are free to customers. Phone carrier charges may apply depending on the carrier and plan retained by the customer.
