SCTE CONTINUES EXPANSION OF CORE ENGINEERING FOCUS; CREATES CTO POSITION AND LAUNCHES INDUSTRY-WIDE SEARCH

FEB. 25, 2010 (Exton, PA)—As part of the expansion of its core focus on applied science and engineering, the Society of Cable Telecommunications Engineers (SCTE) today announced that it has created an opening for a Chief Technology Officer, and that it has instituted a search process to identify potential candidates for the position.

The CTO, who will report directly to SCTE president and CEO Mark Dzuban, will be responsible for driving technical leadership and innovation that can help the cable industry achieve several critical goals:  Further honing the skills of the industry’s field engineers; maximizing value and return from current cable network architectures; and helping to develop the standards that will be critical to operators and programmers as they deploy next-generation services.

“While SCTE performs many valuable functions for the industry, the most important contribution is in driving adoption of the technical innovations that help the industry to reduce costs, optimize network performance and enhance customer satisfaction,” said Dzuban.  “Securing the services of a CTO will enable us to work more directly with operators, programmers and vendors to identify needs and shape solutions that have real, meaningful impact on their businesses.”

SCTE has retained T.D. Madison, an executive search firm, to manage the CTO search process.  Interested candidates also can forward resumes directly to SCTE Human Resources via HR@scte.org, ATT: Cathy Oakes.

The establishment of the CTO position is one of several key objectives on SCTE’s roadmap for the current year.  Earlier this month, the organization announced its Smart Energy Management Initiative (SEMI) that is designed to help the cable industry to leverage the financial and environmental advantages of implementing “green” strategies.  SCTE anticipates announcing later this year a variety of other initiatives – including leadership in technological and operational effectiveness programs -- that are designed to deliver value to the industry.
