Siemens Enterprise Communications is Sued by Klausner Technologies for Visual Voicemail Patent Infringement
NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Klausner Technologies, Inc. announced today that it has filed suit against Siemens Enterprise Communications Inc., a joint venture of Siemens AG (NYSE:SI) and the Gores Group, for patent infringement under its U.S. Visual Voicemail patents.
The lawsuit is based on the sales in the United States of Siemens Enterprise Communications voicemail products such as Siemens HiPath OpenOffice, OpenScape Office myPortal, OpenScape UC Desktop Client, OpenScape Xpressions Desktop Client, OpenScape Personal Edition, Expressions Client for OpenStage 60/80 IP Phones, OpenScape UC Hosted Edition, OpenScape Xpressions Web Client, myPortal Web, OpenScape Xpressions MS Outlook Extension, OpenScape Lotus Notes Extensions, myPortal for Outlook and OpenScape for SAP Business ByDesign integration, all of which allow users to selectively retrieve enterprise voicemail and which infringe Klausner Technologies' Visual Voicemail Patents.
Klausner Technologies currently has 33 Visual Voicemail patent licensees under its U.S., European, and Asian patents, including major U.S. and European mobile operators, international cell phone manufacturers, cable/VOIP providers as well as providers of Visual Voicemail products and services for the enterprise market. Avaya Inc. has recently signed a patent license under the Klausner Technologies’ Visual Voicemail
“33 companies worldwide have now signed patent license agreements with us under our Visual Voicemail patents. As the inventor of these patents and on behalf of our company, I just can’t allow unlicensed companies to use our IP”, said Judah Klausner, Klausner Technologies’ President. The suit has been filed in federal court in the Eastern District of Texas by the California law firm of Dovel & Luner.
