Enables seamless, intelligent WiFi offload for the best User Experience

RICHARDSON, Texas--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- SNRLabs Corporation (“SNRLabs”), a leading provider of middleware for radio management in converged mobile devices, announces the release of VergereTM, a client-based solution enabling seamless WiFi offload for mobile devices in real time. VergereTM relies on the recently announced SNRGrade™ (QoE) metric to determine the best available connectivity, for intelligent connectivity management on converged devices.

The rapid increase in computation power and integration of multiple radios in today’s converged mobile devices such as smartphones, tablets, netbooks, and MIDs, has enabled a vast array of applications and new usage models. In response to this trend, operators are seeking innovative ways to cope with the huge amount of data traffic on their networks by offloading cellular data to WiFi. However, ensuring a high Quality of User Experience (QoE) for customers remains an elusive goal.

SNRLabs’ VergereTM client based middleware complements existing connection managers to enable mobile device makers, operators and application developers to give users a superior QoE. Vergere™ is agnostic to hardware platforms and can be used with technologies being deployed in the infrastructure to enable seamless offload of cellular data to WiFi.

Based on our patent pending technology, VergereTM handles all the connectivity and mobility-related decisions, while reducing the power consumption of the handset. The middleware can be customized by operator specific policy profiles. As a client-based solution, Vergere™ enables operators to efficiently monetize their networks, without any additions to the infrastructure.

“With the rapid increase in sheer volume of mobile data and evolving usage patterns, operators have come to embrace WiFi offload as a key strategy to relieve their networks,” said Somnath Viswanath, Vice President, Business Development, SNRLabs. “Solutions based on Vergere™ fill this critical requirement by intelligently managing WiFi offload, while ensuring a high QoE.”

SNRLabs is currently engaged with multiple silicon vendors, OS providers, operators and device manufacturers to productize VergereTM. SNRLabs has also released a white paper (available upon request), about SNRGradeTM, a metric that quantifies the impact of connectivity on the mobile user experience.
