Spirent Testing Solutions Play Key Role in EANTC’s Carrier Ethernet Interoperability Demonstration
Multi-Vendor Testing Effort at Carrier Ethernet World Congress Uses Spirent Equipment to Test Timing, Synchronization and 100G Interfaces for Carrier Ethernet
SUNNYVALE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Spirent Communications, for the fifth consecutive year, played a key role in the European Advanced Networking Test Center AG (EANTC) Carrier Ethernet interoperability testing event. The test event examined and assessed solutions from leading equipment manufacturers that are offering the latest solutions for Carrier Ethernet. The outcome of this comprehensive undertaking is being highlighted at Carrier Ethernet World Congress in Amsterdam, October 11 -13.
The growing demand for high bandwidth applications and always-on mobile connectivity is driving deployment of Carrier Ethernet technologies in backhaul networks. However, Carrier Ethernet presents critical challenges such as distributing timing and maintaining synchronization in the backhaul, validating interoperability of Ethernet OAM procedures among vendors, and testing the performance of 100G Ethernet modules in the presence of high scale traffic.
“After months of preparation and two weeks of hot staging, we concluded a successful event validating Carrier Ethernet innovations,” said Carsten Rossenhövel, managing director, EANTC AG. “Spirent remains a trusted partner in public testing events and Spirent’s solutions in the interoperability event were important to help showcase the advances in implementations and features of Carrier Ethernet.”
To help highlight the industry’s progress in addressing key technology issues, EANTC leveraged Spirent testing solution to successfully complete interoperability tests with multiple vendors, validate timing and synchronization and test 100G interfaces.
- Spirent TestCenter was used to test SyncE SSM protocol across microwave links, and validated the functionality and performance of boundary and slave clocks from multiple vendors.
- Spirent Anue 3500 was used to inject packet impairments such as PDV, physical impairments such as wander, as well as to verify the compliance of slave and boundary clocks to G.8261 and G.8262 standards.
- Spirent’s Hypermetrics mX 100G Ethernet module was used to validate a leading vendor’s 100G interface and its ability to police traffic and adhere to SLAs.
“We’re excited to continue to play a major role in advancing the deployment and use of carrier grade Ethernet services,” said Rajesh Rajamani, senior product marketing manager, Spirent. “With our strong portfolio of Ethernet testing solutions, we deliver the industry’s most comprehensive set of offerings, enabling equipment vendors, service providers and enterprises.”
