AT&T, Communications Workers of America Reach Tentative Agreement in Southwest Contract Negotiations

AT&T Inc. (NYSE:T) today announced that it has reached a tentative agreement with the Communications Workers of America in core wireline contract negotiations in CWA District 6 (AT&T's Southwest Region), covering approximately 26,000 employees in Arkansas, Kansas, Missouri, Oklahoma and Texas.

The agreement, which will be submitted to the district's membership for a ratification vote in coming days, is the fifth to be reached with a bargaining unit representing the company's core wireline employees. Nearly 70 percent of the approximately 120,000 employees covered under AT&T's core wireline contracts now have either voted to ratify or reached tentative agreements with AT&T.

Agreements between AT&T and the CWA have been ratified in the Midwest and West regions, as well as with Legacy AT&T Corp., which covers employees across the country. An agreement between AT&T and the International Brotherhood of Electric Workers (IBEW) has also been ratified.

Negotiations are continuing in CWA District 3 - AT&T's nine-state Southeast Region, where the contract expired Aug. 8. CWA District 1 - AT&T's East Region, covering employees in Connecticut - is the only region where the contract expired on April 4 that is yet to reach a contract. In both regions, employees continue to work under the terms of the expired contracts while negotiations continue.

The four-year proposed agreement includes pay and pension band increases in each year of the agreement, as well as provisions addressing cost of living adjustments Health care benefits remain among the best in the nation; the health care plan provides for fully funded preventive care.
