LiMo Foundation^{^TM}, a global consortium of mobile industry leaders today announced the newest round of LiMo-compliant handsets has been released to market. Developed by leading device manufacturers and LiMo members NEC and Panasonic Mobile Communications for LiMo board member NTT DOCOMO, these latest handset models offer an array of next-generation features and functionality.

Today's announcement signals a continued expansion of LiMo's footprint in the global mobile marketplace, as well as growing industry endorsement and coalescence around its collaborative device platform.

NEC Announces Full-Scale Introduction of IPTV Business for Communication Carriers

TOKYO, March 11 /PRNewswire/ -- NEC Corporation today announced that it will launch full-scale IPTV business with high-profile NGN (Next Generation Networks) carrier applications. Providing End-to-End IPTV solutions and video delivery systems to communication carriers, NEC will expand this business to the international market. The company will draw on its NGN know-how and extensive experience with broadcasting technology to deliver highly competitive solutions predicted to generate 50 billion yen in sales by 2010.

NEC intends to adopt the following initiatives to accompany full-scale introduction of the new services.

Alcatel-Lucent and NEC announce a Long Term Evolution (LTE) Joint Venture as the first step in a broader collaboration

Mobile World Congress Ã¢â‚¬â€œ Barcelona, February 12, 2008 - Alcatel-Lucent (Euronext Paris and NYSE: ALU) and NEC (TSE:6701) today announced the start of a broad collaboration to market advanced end-to-end communications solutions.

As an important first step in this collaboration, Alcatel-Lucent and NEC have decided to form a joint venture that will focus on the development of Long Term Evolution (LTE) wireless broadband access solutions. These solutions will support the network evolution of leading customers around the world, such as NTT DoCoMo, who has already selected NEC as a vendor for commercial service deployment of its Super 3G (LTE) project, and Verizon, with whom Alcatel-Lucent has already initiated a LTE trial program. Through this joint development effort, the two companies intend to accelerate the availability of next-generation wireless solutions.
