RICHARDSON, Texas--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Taqua®, LLC, a leading supplier of next-generation wireline and wireless IP Multimedia switching and backhaul solutions, today announced that it will showcase its advanced IP-peering and non-line of sight (NLOS) backhaul products in booth 2.1B27 at the Mobile World Congress which will take place from February 14-17, 2011 in Barcelona, Spain.

The massive adoption of smartphones, tablets and mobile data applications are overwhelming wireless networks across the globe. To ensure that their subscribers experience a high level of service availability and functionality, operators continue to look for ways to add capacity, improve coverage, and ensure the most efficient method of transporting multimedia data across disparate carrier networks. Taqua is solving these challenges by delivering IP backhaul solutions that provide both enhanced coverage and capacity at the cell network’s edge, and network-to-network peering that cost effectively and securely transports multimedia.

“Taqua’s W-Series of NLOS wireless backhaul systems provides a flexible, high capacity backhaul solution for small cell sites that enable the 21st Century Cell Tower,” said Scott Weidenfeller, Taqua’s chief marketing officer. “For IP-peering, T7000 Intelligent Switching System flexibly interconnects operator IP networks to deliver secure, reliable and high quality IP services across a distribution network that links mobile and fixed operators.”

W-Series of NLOS Backhaul

The Taqua W-Series NLOS Wireless Backhaul System provides flexible, high capacity backhaul for small cell sites (outdoor femtocells and picocells). Each small cell site is connected to the Taqua Remote Backhaul Module (RBM) via a standard Ethernet connection. Two to six RBMs connect via a shared NLOS wireless link to a Taqua Hub Backhaul Module (HBM). The HBM connects via wired Ethernet to the carrier’s existing network and can be located at a macro site or anywhere connectivity is available. Hundreds of clusters can be deployed as a “network,” managed by a single user interface. Each HBM will enable up to 60 Mbps bandwidth in Release 1.0, with a planned roadmap to increased bandwidth up to hundreds of Mbps in the future. The W-Series backhaul products utilize underused, inexpensive licensed TDD spectrum.

The Taqua W-Series is used in conjunction with any standards based small cell site -- picocells, outdoor femtocells, and WiFi hotspots. The W-Series is easy to install with flexible deployment options for wall or pole mounting on light or utility poles. Taqua uses innovative techniques to maximize throughput within urban and suburban environments to ultimately help deliver a true wireless broadband experience to the wireless operator’s end-user subscribers.

The T7000 Intelligent Switching System

Taqua’s T7000 Intelligent Switching System is a high-density media gateway, Class 4, Class 5, and/or wireless media gateway and wireless media gateway controller in a single chassis. As a high-density media gateway, the Taqua T7000 can provide the necessary high capacity IP-IP and IP-TDM media gateway (MG) and media processing/server function (MRF). With a comprehensive set of fixed and mobile voice and video codecs and transcoding functionality, the T7000 enables a smooth evolution of the next generation IMS-based network to support real-time services over 4G/LTE with interworking capability with legacy networks. The flexibility of the T7000 architecture allows for per-channel allocation of each resource for transcoding or gateway on a per-session basis.
