Multi-national customers offered greater international reach and connection

NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Telstra International, a leading global provider of managed network services, is extending the reach of its Global VPLS (Virtual Private LAN Service) and EVPL (Ethernet Virtual Private Line) services by connecting into the CENX (Carrier Ethernet Neutral Exchange) in Los Angeles. This provides Telstra International with an additional capability to meet service provider and enterprise customers’ ever-increasing requirements for a much wider geographic reach, which is achieved through seamless end-to-end connectivity with other CENX member partners.

The connection into the CENX Exchange also demonstrates that Telstra International’s VPLS and EVPL products within its Ethernet portfolio support the Metro Ethernet Forum’s new MEF 26 standard for External Network to Network Interconnects.

Telstra International Head of Products, Roger Carvosso said that connecting to the CENX Exchange provides Telstra with greater ease of interconnection and interoperability and enhances the ability and speed at which the company can offer services off-net.

“The market for Ethernet services is booming because IT managers value the way it simplifies network management and reduces the complexity of IT infrastructure. However, Ethernet has traditionally been limited by its restricted geographical reach. Expanding the availability of the services through the CENX and utilizing the strength of our coverage in the Asia Pacific region allows our customers to enjoy simple-to manage, secure and flexible network connections into 14 countries across the globe,” Mr Carvosso said.

Telstra International’s entire Ethernet portfolio achieved MEF 9 and MEF 14 certifications from the MEF (Metro Ethernet Forum) in 2010, further assuring customers that Telstra’s Ethernet Services performance standards are upheld across multiple platforms and across multiple vendor solutions that are also MEF certified.

“We are delighted to have such a successful global provider of Carrier Ethernet Services as a member of CENX,” said Nan Chen, co-founder and president of CENX. “Telstra has been on the leading edge of deploying innovative applications that benefit from the attributes of Carrier Ethernet. CENX’s ability to deliver applications seamlessly and globally to more than 15 million ESLs (Ethernet Service Locations) and without cumbersome integration required by Telstra will provide significant new revenue opportunities for both Telstra and its partners.”
