AT&T CEO Randall Stephenson, Verizon CTO Anthony Melone, FCC Chairman Julius Genachowski and Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison to Deliver Keynotes

GRAPEVINE, Texas--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Is your network innovating? Is your network secure? Is it reliable? Can it scale to meet the massive wave of broadband demand? Is it sustainable? The stellar lineup of keynote speakers will tackle these tough questions as the Telecommunications Industry Association rallies the builders and manufacturers of the broadband network at TIA 2011: Inside the Network this week in Dallas.

TIA 2011: Inside the Network is the annual TIA membership meeting and industry summit being held at the Gaylord Texan Hotel in Dallas, May 17-20.

AT&T Chairman and CEO Randall Stephenson will deliver the opening keynote on Wed., May 18.

Verizon Executive Vice President and Chief Technology Officer Anthony J. Melone will deliver the opening keynote on Thurs., May 19.

FCC Chairman Julius Genachowski is the keynote speaker at Thursday night’s VIP Dinner and is also attending TIA’s Spring Policy Summit, being held in conjunction with TIA 2011.

Keynote Speakers at the Spring Policy Summit include: U.S. Congressman Marsha Blackburn (Tenn.), FCC Commissioner Robert McDowell and Deputy Undersecretary for International Trade Michelle O'Neill Thursday afternoon, and Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison (Texas) and AT&T President, Supply Chain & Fleet Operations, Tim Harden on Friday morning.

Other TIA 2011 keynote speakers include:

  • Robert Vrij, Executive Vice President, Alcatel-Lucent, President of Americas Region
  • Jeff Gardner, CEO and President, Windstream Corp.

  • Brian Mefford, CEO of Connected Nation

“As you know, remarkable growth and technological progress represent challenges for our industry,” said TIA President Grant Seiffert. “The millions of apps, mobile data and video, cloud services, even voice, are straining the network and its supply chain. Capacity is not keeping up with demand, which is particularly worrisome for mobile communications with spectrum so scarce. The broadband industry needs to innovate and invest to meet these challenges and monetize new growth opportunities. That’s why we’re here in Dallas, to hear from industry leaders and work on end-to-end solutions.”

The TIA 2011: Inside the Network event features educational sessions covering Converged Networks; Smart Grid; Machine to Machine; Cloud Computing; Mobile Backhaul, Video and Data; Sustainable Networks; Regulatory Issues; Security and more.

In keeping with TIA’s digital media strategy, all keynotes and breakout sessions are being captured on video to post on its digital platforms, TIA’s Digital Marketplace, the virtual event platform for TIA 2011, and the TIA Now TV portal.
