Award-Winners Honored at WLSA Convergence Summit

NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Three winners of the prestigious I Awards 2011 for advances in wireless and mobile healthcare were announced last week at the 6th Annual wireless healthcare Convergence Summit, a three-day event that was held May 10-12, 2011 in San Diego, hosted by the Wireless-Life Sciences Alliance (WLSA) and sponsored by TripleTree, LLC.

Following an international call for nominees in March, three winners were selected from more than 100 applicants and 12 finalists.

The winners in each of three categories are BodyMedia for Best Consumer Experience, Pittsburgh, PA, for their wearable body-monitoring device that helps consumers understand energy expenditure, sleep quality and physical activity. For Best Clinical Applicability, Cambridge Temperature Concepts/DuoFertility, Cambridge, UK, took the honors for its wireless physiological monitor for couples suffering from infertility. And the New York-based Phreesia took the top spot for Best Operational Efficiency for their wireless touch-screen mobile tablet for patient self-service check-in.

Award applicants in each category were asked to articulate how their solution addresses one or more healthcare challenge with the goal of reducing costs and improving outcomes.

“We were overwhelmed with the quality of the applicants and range of solutions for this year’s I Award. Each of the twelve finalists brought great energy and perspective to Convergence Summit agenda and reinforced the relevance of how wireless and mobile solutions are transforming healthcare,” says Chris Hoffmann, senior director and chief marketing officer of Minneapolis-based TripleTree, which in addition to sponsoring the I Awards is a founding member of the WLSA.

Previous I Award winners include: GreatCall-Jitterbug; IntelliDOT (CISCO); Proteus Biomedical; Calgary Scientific; CellTrak Technologies; and Zeo.

WLSA is an international nonprofit think tank that puts CEOs from the world’s most innovative wireless and mobile health companies together with global leaders in healthcare and technology and financial sponsors.

TripleTree LLC is an independent investment bank and strategic advisor providing growth companies in healthcare and other technology-enabled vertical industries with merger and acquisition, private capital and principal investing services.
