uVuMobile(TM), Inc. (Pink Sheets: UVUM), a mobility solutions and software provider, announced today the availability of VXStream 2.0 PRO, uVuMobile's next generation streaming Content Delivery Network. This generational release includes extensive new features and improvements that include a full array of encoding and delivery for live and on-demand TV broadcasts over both narrowband (2.5G) and broadband (3G-4G) mobile networks. VXStream 2.0 PRO reduces the complexity of ingestion, management, publication and distribution of video content enabling media companies and content providers to offer a complete suite of rich media video services directly to mobile users. According to a recent IDC report (U.S. Mobile Television and Commercial Video Forecast), the number of mobile TV/video subscribers and customers is expected to grow to 27.7 million by 2012. The industry trend toward PDA's/smartphones from standard feature phones is supporting this growth. A recent independent study by the research firm MarketTools states that 41 percent of respondents would be more likely to watch TV and videos on their phone if they owned a multi-media-enabled PDA/smartphone.
Specific new features and enhancements of uVuMobile's VXStream 2.0 PRO streaming platform include:
- Faster encoding processing - A 200-300% improvement in the speed of the VXStream encoding engine that translates into a reduction of encoding time and costs for customers.
- Higher Bitrate encoding - Optimization of the VXStream encoding algorithm enabling the processing of higher digital TV signals (including HD) and faster time to deliver live TV and on-demand signals to the phone.
- Increased phone/smartphone support - Support for video playback on MP4 based devices (including the iPhone and iTouch). The platform now supports a wide array of file formats for mobile phones such as MP4, Flash video (FLV), Windows Media (WMV), and 3GPP.
- Simultaneous mobile/online streaming - The platform also supports streaming of video to the PC/MAC, including full screen and HD streaming.
- Video ad-insertion support - Full support for the insertion text, banner and video advertisements and promotions including interstitials, post and pre-roll videos ads directly into both live and on-demand video streaming to ensure high monetization rates for media companies.
"The improvements and optimizations that we are making in our platform are designed to competitively position our company for the large growth of video over mobile broadband networks hence making our services even more attractive to media companies and others around the world," noted Richard Seifert, CEO of uVuMobile, "We are continuing to invest in our VXStream platform to ensure the highest quality live and on-demand video experience in the industry on both mobile phones and Internet-attached devices that are cost effective for our customers and generate new sources of revenue for the Company."
