VeriSign Communications Services and Tekelec's Advanced IP Routing Solution for Operators Enables Delivery of Multimedia Servic

Morrisville, NC (Monday, June 16, 2008) Tekelec (NASDAQ: TKLC), a leader in core multimedia session control and network intelligence, and VeriSign Communications Services, today announced the delivery of a more efficient solution for provisioning routing data across multiple service providers. This solution will allow service providers to deliver high-quality, multimedia services to their consumers at a lower cost.

Benedyk noted that many service providers now offer subscribers enhanced voice and video services featuring high-fidelity capabilities. These features, however, are only possible when calls are established within or between two compatible or "peered" service networks. This requires interoperability between two critical points in the network: authoritative third-party peer-registry services, such as the VeriSign Network Routing Directory, and third-party ENUM address resolution platforms such as Tekelec's TekPath Route Director.

This solution is the result of extensive interoperability testing between the two technologies. Tekelec's TekPath Route Director solution enables service providers to ensure calls remain on their Internet Protocol (IP) network from start to finish, greatly reducing operating expenses, improving quality of service and giving them greater visibility to traffic on their network. The VeriSign Network Routing Directory service is an interconnect registry that leverages VeriSign's expertise in Internet registry services and telephony network routing to facilitate the exchange of session routing and other naming information between service providers.
