Verizon Wireless Expands Push Services Using SEVEN Networks Technology
Relationship with Tier 1 Carrier Shows SEVEN Networks’ Ability to Scale Services to Millions of Consumers
REDWOOD CITY, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- SEVEN Networks®, a provider of innovative solutions for Real Life, Real Time mobile lifestyles, announced that it has expanded its customer relationship with Verizon Wireless to provide push services to a range of Android and BREW™ mobile devices that encompass millions of customers.
SEVEN’s push messaging technology is a prominent solution for Alltel Wireless, which Verizon acquired in 2008. The success of those services to business users played a key role in Verizon Wireless choosing to work with SEVEN for consumer services.
“Push services are a differentiator for consumers – whether on a high-end smartphone or on a feature phone - and Verizon Wireless’ new services and partnership with SEVEN will help to make it a leader in delivering these capabilities using the most network efficient technology available,” said Tamara Steffens, EVP of worldwide field operations for SEVEN. “This announcement is another step in our relationship and we look forward to the opportunity to offer a great messaging experience to Verizon’s customer base.”
SEVEN’s technology was selected by Verizon Wireless for its Mobile Email 4.0 service, a push email service available to new Android and BREW™ devices. The service was announced on Dec. 20, 2010 on a broad range of feature and multimedia phones including the LG Octane™, LG Cosmos™ Touch and Samsung Zeal™. Mobile Email 4.0 provides end users with easy access to work and personal email, calendar and contacts.
The mobile solution will give Verizon’s customers access to a variety of messaging services including Yahoo! Mail, Gmail, Microsoft Exchange, Windows Live™ Hotmail and Verizon.net. It is based on SEVEN’s push technology, which is available on hundreds of handsets from leading manufacturers, and is specifically designed to minimize the use of device battery and network resources while ensuring a Real Life Real Time™ experience through instant delivery of messages.
Founded in 2000, SEVEN Networks helps carriers and handset manufacturers deliver a Real Life, Real Time™ mobile experience through its push-based software platform and applications that deliver data to devices in a way that is network efficient.
