BACKGROUND:

21st Century Breakdown is the trio's first studio album since 2004's two-time GRAMMY Award-winning punk-rock opera American Idiot, which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard chart, spawned five hit singles, and went on to sell more than 12 million copies worldwide. The new single "Know Your Enemy" launched worldwide on April 16 and just reached the biggest leap to the No. 1 spot on the Modern Rock Chart since January of 1994 when Nirvana's "All Apologies" went from No. 9 to No. 1. "Know Your Enemy" is Green Day's ninth No. 1 on the Modern Rock chart. Green Day was there when Verizon Wireless launched ringback tones and text2screen, and now they are partnering with Verizon Wireless to deliver the first full-length music performances on V CAST Video. 21st Century Breakdown is Green Day's eighth studio album.
