Wavion and ZapFi Partner to Provide Wi-Fi Internet Service at Bruges Soccer Stadium “Jan Breydel”
YOQNE’AM, Israel--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Wavion™, a global leader in Wi-Fi solutions for mobile operators, governments and enterprises, and ZapFi, a Wi-Fi Service Provider in Belgium, announced today the deployment of Wavion’s Wi-Fi base stations for high speed internet service at Bruges’s soccer stadium, “Jan Breydel”.
The large 30,000 seat stadium is fully covered by Wavion’s Beamforming-based Wi-Fi base-stations, providing ubiquitous Wi-Fi coverage for applications such as video, images transfer, social networking and internet browsing. The service enables people with smartphones and tablets to connect to the internet at 500Kbps to 1Mbps.
This deployment is an extension of ZapFi’s existing Wi-Fi network in Bruges, covering the whole city with Wavion’s base stations and providing tourist and municipal services.
“We have selected Wavion for the stadium deployment due to the unmatched coverage, capacity and quality of service their base stations provide in the city of Bruges,” said Gery Pollet, ZapFi’s Founder and CEO. ”We are very pleased with Wavion since it enabled us to easily cover the full stadium and provide the needed capacity in this challenging stadium environment.”
Wavion’s unique and powerful base stations, with their spatially adaptive Beamforming and powerful interference immunity suite, provide extended coverage and higher throughput in outdoor environments, excelling in severe NLOS and heavy interference.
“Wavion is proud to provide ZapFi, a leading Wi-Fi service provider in Belgium, with our market leading outdoor Wi-Fi base stations, delivering our superior coverage, capacity and reliability,” said Dr. Mati Wax, Wavion's Founder and CTO. “It is yet another proof of the added value of our unique and powerful Beamforming technology to Service Providers and to large venue deployments, where a large number of handheld devices connect simultaneously.”
