Posted May 1, 2008

Irving, Texas – Apr 29, 2008- Wayport, Inc. , a provider of converged network solutions to enable breakthrough network applications, announced today it has surpassed the 10,000 location mark in full-store network deployments at McDonald’s restaurants in the United States. The services provided to these 10,000 locations (more than 9,300 are public Wi-Fi enabled) include the support for multiple private-side applications, including back office processing and network failover services. This milestone continues McDonald’s position as the largest Wi-Fi network in the U.S. under a single brand, and as a leader in their industry with the integration of public and private networks on one platform.

“Wayport helps McDonald’s enhance their customers’ experience through public Wi-Fi access as well as helping Owner/Operators improve operational efficiencies based on their specific needs and requirements,” said Dave Vucina, CEO of Wayport. “The successful deployment of more than 10,000 McDonald’s restaurants is another major milestone for both companies, and we take great pride in the value our services bring to McDonald’s, their Owner/Operators, and their customers.”

McDonald’s selected Wayport in April 2004 as a preferred connectivity provider to support public Wi-Fi access and enable an array of mission-critical private applications such as: back office processing, network failover services, additional ports for in-store kiosks and many others. The choice reflected the outstanding performance of Wayport’s carrier grade high-speed network, superior 24/7 customer care and the capabilities to support both public and private side applications. In less than four years, Wayport has deployed this converged network technology in more than 10,000 McDonald’s across the U.S.

“McDonald’s has a strong commitment to bring our customers innovative and convenient solutions that enhance their McDonald’s restaurant experience and to provide our Owner/Operators a secure, reliable technology foundation for running their businesses,” said David Grooms, Vice President of McDonald’s IT USA.
